Why a history?

The history has a legal importance, because it attributes each contribution to its author, according to the license Creative Commons CC BY-NC 3.0.

The history also makes it possible to monitor the evolution of a page and to counter the vandalism. It ensures transparency in the construction of the encyclopedia.

With the exception of the auto-generated pages (a few 'special pages' and the histories themselves), every Wikipedia page (article, discussion, etc.) has its own history.
